BMW Engine Oil Level Checking using AssistPlus

E90 Model Vehicles have No Engine Oil Dipstick

This video and article will illustrate how to check engine oil level on BMW E90 models using your AssistPlus device.

 

Begin by identifying the vehicle you are working on

Select Drive

Select Digital Motor Electronics (DME)

Select Diagnostic Requests

Select Oil Level

With the key ON and the engine OFF, you can check Static Oil Level, keep in mind this is only a reference measurement. As the oil sensor is flooded when the engine is off and can only detect minimum oil level.

 

The screen will display Measurement Running during measurement.

Oil Level Sufficient For Engine Starting will be displayed if oil level is at minimum or above

Select back to exit measurement data

To check dynamic oil level

 

From the service functions menu, Select Oil Level

 

 

Start engine

The screen will display Measurement Running during measurement.

 

Once measurement is complete, the oil level will be displayed in mm and in level

 

Our subject vehicle displays ½ quart of oil needed.

 

 

Top up engine oil as needed according to data from vehicle you are working on

Check that oil level is now correct by repeating the dynamic measurement

Once measurement is complete, the oil level will be displayed in mm and in level.

 

Oil is now at the maximum level
